General Session 110: Keynote Address: Nurses as Agents of Change

This keynote address will focus on the nurses ability to be change agents by looking at its past, present and future. Examples of historical moments in which nurses were instruments of change will be explored. Additionally, we will examine the effects of a weaning COVID pandemic on the healthcare system and the opportunities it presents for today’s nurses to be drivers of change, promote autonomy and advocate for better health outcomes. Additionally, the nurse as an advocate will be explored.

Explore and review the past history of nurse advocacy efforts from Florence Nightingale to present-day nurse advocates.
Become aware of and discuss available resources that promote nurse advocacy efforts.
Explore and discuss relevant issues of the nursing profession that participant may begin their advocacy efforts.
